Unnatural Love

The grass is not green when it is dead,
And roses are not always red.
The sky is not blue when it is grey,
Colours change from night to day.
Clouds can be white, grey or even pink,
Nature does change didn't you think?

"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
And I love you."

Comparing our love to nature is strange,
Nature is not fixed and it does change.

The grass it died,
And the roses weren't red I lied,
The sky is full of clouds of grey,
And flashing lightening bolts of dismay.
Nature does change and so did our love,
There is no use reckoning with the force from above.

  1. So true. "Comparing our love to nature is strange." Love that line.

  2. Much reality expressed in this and nature both change. An excellent poem.

  3. love it, what a witty and funny piece.

  4. reminds me younger days- roses are red... haha! that's a good one! here's my potluck..

  5. Nice one! Nature changes just like our love can too, unfortunately.
Thanks for visiting my poem too.

  6. Great idea expressed here! Very witty. Reminds me a bit of Dorothy Parker!

  7. Great take on love! I enjoy the look at nature changes, because love also changes. Thanks for sharing!
    My potluck entry

  8. Thank you all for your comments :)

Thank you lolamouse ... I had never even heard of Dorothy Parker so I opted to google her and I absolutely love her! :)

  9. Relationships and the weather do change quite a bit and a power above does control the weather exclusively, however we better take some responsibility over our relationships and their fluctuations..

  10. I know we take our own responsibility ... It's just about how we compare love to nature as though that makes it solid and unchangeable - but nature does change.

  11. i really enjoyed this piece... love is certainly not static although sometimes it feels as it it may be... really great piece!
